Considering this is Jay-Zs last ever album (I hope it isn't) it's a seriously good effort! Not only that but he definitely knows how to work people. His collaborations have reached a whole new level, I've always thought Jay-Z had something no other hip-hop artist had and this album is the epitome of Retro Style Urban Music. To be honest its deserving of its very own genre. To pick a favourite track from this album is almost impossible. When I started to think of which one it would be I started with Lucifer; with it's wicked mix and blend of classic Jay-Z hooks and melodic background it set the tone, but then I was inclined to think no, because all of the tracks have their stand out moments and it is this that sets this album apart from the rest. Being as it is his last, everyone knew Jay-Z would come out with something different and this album really reflects his character and shows the way he has branched out from being a young start-out rapper into a fully fledged entrepreneur of the hip-hop world. You really do have to listen to this album on repeat, no jokes. Even the title of the album gives it that extra edge 'Black'...is the colour thats always here. Nothing can ever replace black. Take for example the world of fashion (where Jay-Z has also been developing business) Here every colour has had its turn at being the 'New Black but lets face it nothing ever beats black: Its a classic and so is this album. Oh and Jay-Z, just one thing to say, Seriously, can we get an Encore?
